 |
With its high accuracy internal accelerometers, its ability to communicate with your vehicle’s computer (via the OBDII connector) and its optimized computing algorithms, the Nitrod VPM-100G is the ultimate performance monitoring and measuring device for your car. The Nitrod VPM-100G is a multi-purpose digital gauge that takes only seconds to install. It is a plug-and-play and user-friendly device. In a matter of seconds you will be able to measure your vehicle performance and display various meters or vital sensor data in real-time. |
Features of the VPM-100G (Click on a feature for more info):
Quick & Easy Installation - Plug and Play
Nitrod performance meters are literally plug-and-play. The VPM-100G simply connects to your vehicle via the diagnostic link connector. The installation requires no tools and is completed within seconds.
Measures Elapsed Time for: 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, 60 ft, 0-60 mph ...
The VPM-100G performs all popular drag strip performance tests such as the distances and the speeds tests. The speed markers and the milestone distances times are accurately measured with a high precision internal accelerometer. The results are neatly displayed and can be saved to the internal memory for future viewing and comparison.
Measures Maximum Horsepower
The VPM-100G measures the maximum accelerating and wheel horsepower accurately using its internal accelerometers. The calculation is performed during a drag strip run. The result is displayed along with the distance and the speed test results.
Cornering, Braking & Accelerating g-force
The VPM-100G measures the lateral and the longitudinal forces acting on your vehicle with its high precision accelerometer. The values are displayed in g-force units along with intensity bar graphs for better visualization.
Fuel Consumption Gauge
The VPM-100G’s fuel consumption gauge gives you the instantaneous fuel consumption of your vehicle (For Gasoline Engines Only). The graphical display also includes a short term average value along with the current cruising speed. This is ideal for determining the optimum speed and gear at which your vehicle yields its best fuel economy.
Specialized Gauges & Displays
The VPM-100G has different elaborate graphical displays for more specific performance and diagnostic purposes.
The “Fuel System Status” display offers you a look into the fuel system state of your vehicle. It allows you to monitor the spark advance and the fuel system status. It also displays the “Short-Term Fuel Trim” and the “Long-Term Fuel Trim” values, which indicate the fuel compensations performed by the Engine Control Module in comparison the engine’s fuel table. The compensations are required to maintain the engine’s best performance and to minimize emissions. Out-of-spec Fuel Trim values may give a good indication of a vacuum leak, a faulty mass air flow sensor, a dirty air filter or dirty fuel injectors.
For vehicles equipped with a turbo and a factory MAP sensor, the “Boost gauge” displays the air pressure in the air intake manifold along with a bar graph for better visualization. The peak and maximum values are displayed and recorded. The peak value holds the maximum value for the last few seconds. This allows you to see the maximum Boost pressure attained for each gear.
The other displays are: the “General System Display” which displays data revealing the current operating conditions of your vehicle and the “Mass Air Flow Gauge” which displays the mass air flow entering the engine.
Reads Diagnostic Trouble Codes - DTC (Fault code)
The VPM-100G retrieves and displays the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) stored in the memory of your vehicle’s ECU. When a system or component malfunction is detected, a DTC is stored in the ECU’s memory. The DTC contains specific information about the system or component malfunction. Reading your vehicle’s DTCs yourself can help you save costly and time consuming visits to the mechanic by shedding some light on the possible problem. For a list of drivetrain DTC definitions click here.
-
Turn-Off Check Engine Light ( ) & Delete DTCs
The VPM-100G can clear the DTCs from your vehicle’s ECU and turn-off the Check Engine Light (CEL). The CEL is the visual flag raised by the ECU to indicate that a system or component malfunction was detected.
Displays and Logs Real-Time Vehicle Sensor Data
The VPM-100G displays sensor data with digital gauges or on Cartesian graphs. The data is obtained directly from the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The graph displays, plot the sensor values versus time. The plotting can be paused at any time for you to review the logged values using a scrolling marker. For example, the plotting function comes in handy when determining the health of your vehicle’s oxygen sensors by observing their oscillating voltage signal as a function of time.

Visual & Audible Alarms
Various alarms may be set to your specifications. These alarms include the monitoring of the engine’s RPM, the battery voltage, the air intake manifold pressure (boost) and the engine’s coolant temperature. The VPM-100G alarms you by toggling on and off the bright LCD backlights as well as sounding the buzzer.
Bright & High Contrast LCD for Optimum Readability
The LCD was selected for its brightness and its high contrast. These characteristics give the VPM-100G’s display a high readability and clarity in various lighting conditions, even in direct or bright sunlight.
Fast & Easy Navigation Through Menus and Functions
The VPM-100G’s navigational button has been specifically designed to facilitate single hand navigation. Its scroll and select functionalities allow fast and easy navigation through the different menus and functions.

| Note 1: |
Some products on the market use the speed sensor value acquired from the OBDII port to calculate horsepower, 0-60 mph, 1/4 mile etc. This method can work but can give results with limited accuracy. The problem is inconsistent latency times and update rate of the speed sensor value, which varies from car to car. Most of all, wheel spin will significantly affect results when using the vehicle’s speed sensor.
For performance measurement you need acceleration. This is why Nitrod equipped its gauges with onboard high accuracy accelerometer sensors. The Nitrod VPM-100G is the only gauge on the market that has OBDII capabilities and incorporates accelerometer sensors. |
